Welcome to the Elders' Institute e-News
Welcome to the May 2007 issue of the Elders' Institute e-News.
|
Newsletter from the Elders' Institute
Our spring 2007 newsletter is now hot of the press and can be downloaded from our web site:
www.eldersinstitute.ca
Usually, our newsletter contains a profile of a ruling elder. In
this issue, there is a very interesting article about Wilma Welsh,
ruling elder at Knox Presbyterian Church, Guelph, and moderator of the 132nd General Assembly of The Presbyterian Church in Canada.
In addition, you will find answers to a previous Elders' Corner
question and finally, an introduction to a new e-Source—the
latest initiative from the Elders' Institute to provide you with relevant and enlightening material.
Enjoy the reading!

Serving as a Ruling Elder: A Course in the Basics
What are the roles and responsibilities of elders? Join this course and explore the multifaceted answers to
this and other questions with the Elders' Institute online. The purpose of the course is to focus on the role of the ruling
elder within The Presbyterian Church in Canada and its
congregations and courts.
The course is intended for anyone who is interested in eldership: new elders looking for some orientation to their
ministry, potential elders considering a call to eldership, and current elders wanting a 'refresher.'
Instructor is the Rev. Karen Horst.
