Welcome to the Elders' Institute e-News

In this issue we will highlight news and announcements regarding online courses and other ventures.

Sessions learn together through online courses
The popularity of team online learning is growing in Presbyterian circles. Today a group of 10 folks from St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Prince Albert, Sask., will begin studying together with the Elders' Institute online course Reading the Hebrew Bible With New Eyes taught by Pat Dutcher-Walls. Soon a group from St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church in Peterborough, Ont., will explore the call to eldership through Serving as a Ruling Elder taught by Leslie Walker. Only one more spot is still available in this online course, which runs from September 29 to November 7. If your session would like to take this popular course together, reserve your spots by registering now at www.eldersinstitute.ca for the next time this course runs, which is from January 19 to February 27.

Exploring the Lord's Prayer
Stephen Farris will teach a course on the Lord's Prayer online starting October 20. This course follows his sold-out courses on the Apostles' Creed in 2006. In Exploring the Lord's Prayer, participants will use the words and phrases of this wonderful prayer as a doorway into a deeper understanding of prayer and basic Christian theology. The course is a combination of Bible study and practice in prayer. Visit our website, www.eldersinstitute.ca, for more information or to register today.
