It's not too late: Register for Pre-Assemby
Workshops (PAW) 2009
There are still a few spots left for PAW
2009, which will take place at Chedoke
Presbyterian Church in Hamilton,
Ont., on June 6. A couple of the more popular workshops are already full,
so we've enlisted Keith Boyer to teach an extra workshop called the
Multi-Faceted Role of Leadership, which addresses the topic of leadership
and will include an affirmation of elders as models of emotional and
spiritual maturity.
For more information and
to register for PAW, visit the Elders' Institute website or phone Kathleen toll-free
at 1-866-794-8888.

Elders' Institute Returns from Cape
Breton
Elders' Institute staff met with elders from
many congregations in Cape
Breton last month. We
received a hospitable welcome wherever we went as well as feedback, which
we will incorporate into our plans for PAW 2010. Next year's Pre-Assembly
Workshops will be hosted by Union Presbyterian Church, Albert Bridge
(aka Mira Ferry) in Cape
Breton. Visit Facebook to view photos from
our trip to the east coast.

Serving as a Clerk of Session: Boning up on the Basics
The Elders' Institute is offering another
NEW online course this fall. Serving as a Clerk of Session: Boning
up on the Basics was written and will be taught by Ted Siverns. This online
course is designed for novice and experienced ruling elders as well as for
those discerning an invitation and call to become a clerk of session. This
practical course has no prerequisites other than having access to the Book
of Forms and appreciation of a wry sense of humour. It runs from September
21 to October 30. Enrollment is limited, so
register this spring to be sure to get in. For more information about this
and other courses offered by the Elders' Institute, click
here.
