September 2009
Welcome
to the Elders' Institute e-News
As
the summer draws to an end, the Elders' Institute is gearing up for
a busy fall and planning for 2010.
| Online
Courses
There are only a couple of spots left in this
fall's popular elder basics course, Serving as a Ruling
Elder, being offered for the third time this year.
Register today to be sure not to miss out on this opportunity.
This online course will be taught by Leslie
Walker from October 5 to November 13. It is intended for
new elders looking for some orientation to their ministry, potential
elders considering a call to eldership and experienced elders
wanting a refresher course. Some computer
experience is recommended to take Elders' Institute online
courses.
This fall's new
course Serving as a Clerk of Session: Boning up on the
Basics, starts next week (Sept. 21). Interestingly,
instructor Ted
Siverns will be teaching remotely from Taiwan, where he's
Scholar in Residence at Tainan Theological College and Seminary
(TTCS). That's one of the beauties of online learning; you can
be anywhere there's a computer with Internet access. Since this
course is full, with many others wanting to take this course,
the Elders' Institute has enlisted Ted to teach this course
again in the fall of 2010. Even next year's class is close to
being full, so consider registering soon to avoid disappointment.
