Welcome to the Elders' Institute e-News

Watch for the Elders' Institute's semi-annual printed newsletter in the fall PC Pak or view it early online.

New Online Course
Join with former moderator Jean Morris and ruling elders from across Canada to discover new pastoral visiting skills and renew your commitment to congregational pastoral care with the Elders' Institute's new course: Pastoral Visiting for Ruling Elders. This online course was developed and written by Jean Morris for ruling elders seeking to fulfil their calling to assist teaching elders in the pastoral care of the congregation (as set out in the Book of Forms). However, the knowledge and skills offered in this course are helpful to all pastoral visitors in the church, so all pastoral visitors may sign up. For more information about online courses or to register, visit our website: www.eldersintitute.ca.

Putting a Face to Ruling Eldership
The Elders' Institute has collected photos of ruling elders from across Canada over the past couple of years. Artist Carolyn Boyer has made 17 posters from these photos representing over 60 Presbyterian churches across Canada. These posters have been displayed at various events including Pre-Assembly Workshops (PAW), General Assembly and Synod. They can also be viewed in the photos section of the Elders' Institute website and Facebook group. If you and other ruling elders at your church have not yet submitted your individual photos for this project, it's not too late to do so. We'll still accept photos received up until November 30 for our final batch of posters. Be sure to read submission details and fill in and submit your permission form with your photo. Watch for an announcement regarding the next stage of Putting a Face to Ruling Eldership coming soon! If you have any questions, phone Kathleen toll-free at 1-866-794-8888 (or 604-822-0071 in Vancouver).
