Welcome to the Elders' Institute e-News

PAW 2010 and the AMS pew-cushion project were both a great success. See photo.

Pilgrimage 2010, from Noyon to Iona: Exploring the Reformed Heritage!
Bursaries for ruling elders! Submit your bursary application by June 30!

Join the Elders' Institute (and Peregrinatio Studies), for a 17-day pilgrimage in recognition of the 450th anniversary of the founding of the Church of Scotland.

Some moments to savour on this unforgettable journey:

  • Sunday morning worship (Oct. 3) in English and French with the congregation Calvin formed in Strasbourg.
Time to meet members of this dynamic congregation over lunch following the service.
  • A journey down the world-famous Alsatian wine-road (with appropriate tastings), followed by tarte flambée
    in a village inn.
  • A chance to stand at the foot of John Knox in Edinburgh and ask him all the questions you've always had.
  • On the return from the isle of Iona, a drive through the highlands via the fabled pass of Glencoe.
  • Holy Communion standing around the table in Edinburgh's historic Duddingston Kirk, in the manner of our
    16th-century ancestors in the faith.

Of similar pilgrimages in recent years, participants have said:

"I wish I had had this experience in my ministry 20 years ago!"

"I have come to appreciate our spiritual heritage in a way no book or lecture could teach."

"I now have trust for the unseen road ahead."
