Rev. Dr. Roberta Clare

Roberta ClareRoberta Clare has served as director the Elders’ Institute, St. Andrew’s Hall, since 2004.

She holds a doctorate in Education and Religion (Ed.D) from Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary, New York City. A graduate of Knox College, Toronto (Master of Divinity) and Union Theological Seminary (Master of Sacred Theology), Roberta has served as a ruling elder, minister, university chaplain, high school teacher and university instructor.

As director of the Elders' Institute, Roberta oversees the development of online courses, workshops and publications for ruling elders and lay leaders. She travels extensively across Canada, leading workshops and serving as a consultant.
Roberta also teaches courses in Pastoral Theology and Education as adjunct faculty of the Vancouver School of Theology.
Roberta is a specialist in action-reflection models of education and transformative learning theory. Her articles have been published in both academic journals and church publications. Her current research interest is in the fields of intercultural studies and hospitality ministry.

In her spare time, you'll find Roberta riding her quarter horse Suzie, (a former BC cutting champion), baking pies and crocheting. Roberta lives in Maple Ridge with her husband Dr. James Zacharias.
