The Rev. Carolyn McAvoy, as the eldest daughter of a minister's family of 11, has lots of early familiarity with Presbyterian church life, and with various personalities. Eventually she discerned a call to ministry and graduated from Knox College in 1989. She began her full-time ministry in Brussels, ON.
After eight years of settled ministry, in 1997, Carolyn McAvoy moved into a newer ministry to our denomination: interim ministry. She trained with the Interim Ministry Network and is now in her fifth 2-year Interim congregation (St. Andrew's Orillia). Her interest in people and systems also lead her to study and certify in Myers Briggs Personality Theory and eventually to launch her own company called Catalyst Consulting. She loves to cook gourmet meals for friends and family, travel and see new places and enjoys her own backyard getaway in Mississauga, ON. She developed When the Pulpit is Vacant: Ministry in the Interim.
