Youth Ministry Matters: An Elder's Guide to envisioning and enabling Effective Youth Ministry
What do we do about the youth (or lack thereof)? This is a very common question in our congregations. Young people need the care, support and guidance of the church, and they have perspectives, enthusiasm, energy and gifts that are crucial to us! We need one another to be the Body of Christ.
This course will provide an opportunity for elders and other leaders to discern the ways in which their congregations can develop and/or strengthen connections with youth and how they can better invite young people into discipleship, community, worship, witness, and service. Through readings, activities, and online discussions we will:
This course is designed to encourage, energize and equip elders to be effective in their role as spiritual leaders of congregations that include (or wish to include) youth. It does not assume that you will necessarily be engaged in hands-on, front-line ministry with young people—it's not 'how-to-lead-a-youth-group.' Instead, this course will give you the necessary tools for leading your congregation to be faithful and effective in youth ministry through understanding the 'big picture' issues and asking the right questions.
