Living Faith: A Closer Look
Living Faith was originally received by our church in 1984 as “an acceptable statement of faith useful in worship and for study.” In 1998 it was made part of our subordinate standards. That is to say, it has now become an expression of the faith we profess as a church.
It has sold many copies and is widely used in worship and in confirmation classes and study groups. Its enduring appeal continues to attract interest. A surprising number of churches, including The Church of Scotland, have not accepted new statements of faith, apart from very brief summaries of the faith.
All of this invites a closer look at this intriguing document. Rev. Dr. Stephen Hayes, convener of the committee that produced it, guides us through it in this new online course.
