Course Description

Practical Presbyterian Polity

This course is suitable for M. Div. students and ruling elders. Topics include the structures of the church, effective session meetings, term service, ordination for life and many other practical subjects.

This course offers a practical and interactive approach for learning about Presbyterian polity (the structure and function of the church) and develop the necessary skills to apply it to church life. Topics include effective session meetings, term service, ordination for life and many other practical subjects.

We will use case studies and online materials to cover broad areas of the Book of Forms and common issues that arise in the ongoing work of church governing bodies.

Participants will discuss the theology, philosophy and practical wisdom in applying the policies of the Book of Forms to daily church life.
