The Role of the Elder (English) - Erin Crisfield

The purpose of this self-directed workshop is to explore the role of the ruling elder within The Presbyterian Church in Canada, its congregations and its courts. The print/download resource is intended for use by anyone who is interested in eldership: new elders looking for some orientation to their new ministry, potential elders considering a call to eldership, and current elders wanting a refresher and a place to begin study. There are four lessons in this self-directed workshop. The topics and learning goals for each one are given below:

1. The Roots of Eldership
2. The Responsibilities of Elders and Sessions
3. The Courts of the Church
4. Being the Best Elder You Can Be

This self-directed workshop has been designed for use either by individuals or by groups. Instructions are given for both independent and group study.
